Loughrigg Cottage

Clappersgate is situated a mile from Ambleside on Coniston road, beneath Loughrigg fell. In the 16th century Clappersgate was classified as a port, since it had a wharf on the Brathay river where slate from local quarries were loaded and taken down river to Windermere and onwards to the south.

The property itself is located at the end of a private driveway, just of the A593. It’s the last property on the estate set away from neighbours so you won’t be overlooked or disturbed by anyone.

Loughrigg Cottage is only a short drive away from Ambleside, which is one of the most picturesque villages in the Lake District.
