Welcome to Valmere Retreat, your stunning home from home in the heart of Windermere. Just a 10-minute walk from the train station, this completely renovated Lake District Cottage is perfectly placed for exploring the World Heritage Site. With an open-plan living space, two en-suite bedrooms, and everything you need for a Lake District break, it’s a great spot for couples, friends, or small families.

Valmere Retreat was once part of the historic Church Hall at St. Mary’s which has been thoughtfully converted into just five unique cottages, each retaining the character of the original building.

The cottages are true heritage conversions, offering guests a chance to stay somewhere with a genuine connection to the town’s past.

The cottage has been recently completely renovated to provide a luxury home from home.

 

Light, Welcoming, and Full of Charm Living Spaces

Living & Dining: Light, open-plan space with a modern sofa, smart TV, log burning stove and a dining nook for four.

Kitchen: Open plan to the lounge and dining area, this stunning kitchen is fully equipped with range cooker with induction hob, dishwasher, microwave, fridge, freezer, kettle, toaster, and all the essentials.

Downstairs has underfloor heating throughout with tiled floors and upstairs there are carpets with radiators and air conditioning.

 

Warm and Thoughtfully Designed Bedrooms and Bathrooms

Bedrooms: Two inviting bedrooms; one king size and one twin each with their own beautifully appointed en-suite shower room with radiators, toiletries and fresh towels included.  Both bedrooms have air conditioning units making those warm summer evenings more comfortable.

 

Outdoor Space and Parking

At the front of Valmere Retreat, you’ll find a pathway leading to the front door.  In the courtyard are two parking spaces allocated to Valmere Retreat.  Please note that the entrance lane is narrow. Wide vehicle drivers will need to be aware of this. Vehicles of 1.9 to 2 metres max.

To the rear of the cottage is a cottage garden with shrubs and a patio with garden furniture, ideal for enjoying a glass of something after a busy day exploring The Lakes.

Ground Floor:

  • Entrance: Access from the parking area up a step into the entrance hallway where there is room to hang coats and leave shoes and boots.
  • WC: Ground floor WC with wash basin.
  • Kitchen/Living room/Dining room: Super stylish open plan room; the kitchen is beautifully appointed with modern appliances; the lounge and dining areas are perfect for family gatherings with comfortable seating, log-burning stove and cosy dining nook.
  • Laundry cupboard: Washing machine, dryer and clothes airer.

  • Parking: There are allocated parking spaces for 2 vehicles.  Please note that the entrance lane is narrow. Wide vehicle drivers will need to be aware of this. Vehicles of 1.9 to 2 metres max.

Where you'll be

Valmere Retreat is only a 10 minute walk from the train and bus stations in the centre of Windermere village. The property is located in a tucked away courtyard to the rear of St Marys Church, however, the bars and restaurants are only a 5 minute walk away.

Just on the other side of the road lies Orrest Head, one of the most iconic views in the Lake District just a short walk away. A romantic place to watch the sunset or lovely for a picnic during the day, it is well worth a visit.

Lake Windermere and the picturesque village of Bowness lies just further down the hill, around a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute bus or taxi ride.

On church street, just a few minutes away you can rent bikes from Total Adventure Bike Hire, which is definitely a brilliant way to explore the local area.
