  • Pets & Fireworks: To ensure the tranquility of our space, pets and fireworks are not permitted.
  • Outdoor Living: Enjoy our little garden with a seating area and firepit. Please note, the garden is near a rural road and a popular footpath, inviting occasional friendly interactions.
  • Winter Stays: In frosty weather, the water supply may be limited, but alternative facilities are provided.
  • Interactions: Expect to say hello to a friendly cat, the visiting ponies, and perhaps even hear the owls at night!

Where you'll be

Please note, that this property is NOT ON A BUS ROUTE and you will need a car to get here from Kendal (there is a car rental next to Kendal station).
Convenient as a base for the southern Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales, the hut is in a secluded position in our garden with easy parking on the driveway.
There is a scenic footpath beside it named Gamblesmire Lane that leads to Cunswick Scar, Scout Scar and footpaths to Underbarrow and Crook.

Kendal market town is a 2 minute drive by car. It has lots of interesting small shops, a market on Wednesday and Saturday, a fabulous Climbing Wall, the Brewery Arts Centre, interesting historic buildings and yards and excellent cafés. Sizergh Castle and Levens Hall are a few miles to the south of the town.
There are 5 award winning country inns that serve great food within a 10 to 20 minute scenic car journey of the hut. The nearest, at Underbarrow 10 minutes away is The Black Labrador.
