Downstairs, there are two beamed reception rooms which set the tone for relaxation, while the heart of this home is undoubtedly the dining kitchen with its iconic four-oven Aga and views of Blencathra. There is also a gas hob and electric double oven, dishwasher, American fridge freezer with ice maker, and plentiful kitchen equipment. Adjacent is a snug/library, perfect for quiet reads, a downstairs cloakroom, and a sunroom that offers picturesque views of the Pennine hills and our garden’s squirrel activities. A large utility and boot room offers plenty of storage for boots and coats along with a washing machine and an airing rack. There is a convenient and charming ground floor king size bedroom complete with its own en-suite with rain shower – perfect for those who’d rather skip the stairs

The living room and dining room make up the oldest part of the house, originally medieval, and are full of character. A convenient gas fire is installed in the huge hearth in the living room, while the dining room features a real wood fire, vintage drinks cabinet, window seats and an antique dining table and chairs for 8. A newly installed oak staircase leads to an expansive games/TV room complete with PS5, with plush sofa and picturesque views. It’s the ideal spot for both relaxation and fun. .


The upper floor has a super king master bedroom, another king size bedroom and a cute single bedroom with panoramic views of the Pennines. There is a Jack and Jill ensuite with rain shower and double basins, and a luxurious family bathroom with roll top bath overlooking the gardens.

Property Layout

Guests will have full access to the main house, including the reception rooms, dining kitchen, sunroom, snug/library, and all bedrooms. The delightful gardens are also open for you to explore and relax in. Ping Pong table can be found in the garage and workshop area is reserved for private use.

💳 Damage Deposit: At Laik, we place a £200 deposit hold on your card as a safety measure, ensuring a carefree stay for both you and us. This isn’t a charge, just a temporary hold. Expect this to be set up either the day before you arrive or on your check-in date.

Once you’ve checked out and we’ve made sure everything’s as lovely as when you arrived, we’ll promptly release the hold, freeing up those funds for you. It’s all part of making your stay smooth and secure.

A short walk from the house takes you to Skelton where the famous Michelin Dog and Gun pub provides a warm welcome and fantastic food and drink. The market town of Penrith is 6 miles away with a range of supermarkets and independent shops, and the west coast main line to London and Glasgow.
